The flat

Lay-out

Our flat is the standard summer home: 60m2 comprising two bedrooms (one with 1,35m double bed and the other with two 0,80m single beds), bathroom, kitchen-living room, balcony and pantry. It’s fully furnished in a very functional way. Four adults can comfortably stay there, two in each room. For additional guests we have an air mattress for two. You can find it in the closet in the master bedroom.

The flat is very well oriented and gets a lot of light throughout the day. Moreover, from the terrace you can sight the sea. It’s a real pleasure to have breakfasts there.

Appliances

The flat is fully equipped: Fridge (with a freezer), washing machine[1], as well as several small appliances: coffee pot, microwave, kettle, toaster, blender, hair drier, two standing fans and iron (with ironing board).

For entertainment, you can use radio-cassette and a TV (with DVB-T tuner). You will find both in the living room.

All the instructions are in the first drawer of the drawer unit in the pantry.

There is also a multi-function printer that can be used to print your Boarding Passes. It's a Canon MP 250, in case you would like to download the drivers onto your laptop before the trip. We have left it in the built-in wardrobe in the master bedroom.

[1] Once in a while the washing machine falls into a loop and doesn’t finish the washing cycle. If it happens to you, I’m sorry. Turn it off and take the clothes out. It will be wet but clean.

Household items

In the house you will find all items you might need in everyday basis: towels and bed linen. The towels are in the plastic chest under one of the beds in the double room. There are five sets of hand towels and bath towels, as well as some loose bath towels.

In the plastic chest under the other bed in the double room, you can find bedding sets for the 0,80 m beds. There are five of them in separate plastic bags.

The bedding sets for the master bedroom (1,35 m) are in the drawer unit in the built-in wardrobe in that room. There are three of them.

The beach towels are in the upper part of the same wardrobe.

Entertainment

Besides the TV and radio-cassette player we’ve mentioned, you will find a large number of games, and a collection of DVDs. To watch the films you will need your own laptop though.

On the bookshelf you can find plenty to read. Almost everything is in Spanish, but we also have books in English and Polish. On the coffee table in the living room you can find magazines. Do not hesitate to contribute with new items to the collection.

The beach is obviously one of the main attractions of Torrevieja. Luckily, the best beaches of the city are right next to the flat. You only have to go downhill about 350 meters and you will find yourself on the beach, which spreads for kilometres towards Guardamar del Segura. It’s worth mentioning that there is a small charming bay called Cabo Cervera, where you will find a very interesting restaurant called Barlovento. It looks like a ship and is perfect for romantic dinners.

We also have everything you may need for the beach: beach towels, mats, straw hats, paddles, umbrella and even a couple of snorkelling sets. You don’t have to bring any of them from home. You will find everything in the closet in the double room and in the pantry.

For families with children

The flat is totally family friendly:  we have a crib and a baby high chair at your disposal. The dimensions of the crib are 120 x 60 cm and it comes with the bed linen. Please, let us know in advance that you are going to need it, so we can bring it from the storage room.

For small children we have stuffed toys and colouring books. If you think you might need anything else (for example a playpen), let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

Practical information

  • Electricity

The fuses are in front of the entrance door. Just in case, in principle there is no need to deal with them.

  • Water

The flat has two set of valves (one in the bathroom and the other in the pantry). They remain always open.

  • Keys

There are two gates to the condominium. The numbers are 42 and 44. The key we will give you only opens the gate number 44, that’s the one situated a bit uphill. The same key opens the door to the building (Block I), as well as the pool and the rooftop terrace. When getting out of the condominium, you have to press a button, which is a little hidden next to the stairs.

Before your arrival we will give you one set of two keys: for the condominium and for the flat. If you need another set or the remote control for the gate leading to the car park, don’t hesitate to ask for it.

  • Gas

It works with butane gas cylinders and it’s only used for the kitchen. Under the sink there is a cylinder already in use with the safety catch on. The safety catch is at the top of the cylinder. There is another cylinder by the bookcase. Before use, you should check that the tube linking the cylinder with the burner is in good conditions.

While using the burner, do not forget to press well down the selector, otherwise it will not work.

  • Water heater

You’ll find it in the pantry. It’s powered with electricity and the switch is on the wall on the right side of the heater.  It takes a little time between turning it on and the moment when the little light comes on and the heater starts heating water.

  • Air Conditioning

The house does not have air conditioning, but really there is no need for it. Our flat it’s on the fifth floor of the only tall building in the neighbourhood and it’s close to the sea, so you can constantly feel the breeze, which cools the air in the flat. You just have to leave a few windows opened to create a draught.

Anyway, there are standing fans in the flat for the hottest or less windy days.

Guests visiting us in winter, will find a heater in the closet in the living room (flats in that region usually don’t have central heating because of its mild Mediterranean climate). There also are blankets in the closets.

  • Internet

In the TV table in the living room, you will find a USB 3G modem. Next to it is a prepaid SIM card of Happy Móvil with 1Gb of data. You can use it in the modem, connecting it with your laptop or tablet, or insert it directly in you smartphone.

  • Rubbish

The rubbish bags can be taken out only between 8 pm and 10 pm and the rubbish containers are located besides the building. That is because of the fact that in such a warm climate organic waste rots almost immediately and smells really badly. So for your neighbours’ and your own good, obey that rule. The dust cart collects the rubbish around midnight.

There are two rubbish bins in the flat. The one inside the cupboard under the stove is only for organic waste. The one besides the shelving is for segregation and has two compartments – for plastic (on the left) and paper (on the right). Please segregate and recycle the garbage.

We recommend useing plastic bags as rubbish bags. We have loads of them in the pantry. This way we help to protect the environment. Nevertheless, we have rubbish bags in one of the drawers in the kitchen.
